Spectrum Herbal The Natural Alternative

The Original Home of Australian Tea Tree Oil

The name CORAKI is derived from the Aboriginal Bundjalung Gurigay, meaning The Meeting of the Waters.

CORAKI is the original home and the birthplace of the Australian tea tree oil industry. Melaleuca alternifolia, the true botanical species of tea tree oil, has persisted in an unbroken chain in the heart of the Bungawalbyn Valley for over 36,000 years.  The Australian Aboriginal practice to use tea tree oil for the treatment of topical infections and fungal disease has spread over time and world populations embraced this unique ‘natural’ antiseptic. Today modern science still marvels at the truly unparalleled and wondrous spectrum of benefits tea tree oil provides. CORAKI brand tea tree products have been made with attention to detail for over 30 years, blending the established traditions and new technologies that science offers. Once seen as the alternative choice, CORAKI products are now the quality natural choice for mainstream consumers.

CORAKI Tea Tree Oil is 100% Australian grown.

We are committed to the sustainability of the Australian environment in which the native Melaleuca alternifolia is grown and harvested.

CORAKI Tea Tree Oil is produced using long term distillation and extraction of the components of this unique Australian species, because we believe that poorly distilled oil and species grown in non-native environments can affect its efficacy.

HISTORIC FACTS – TEA TREE OIL HISTORY

During the late 1800’s and early 1900, the CORAKI village was developed at the junction of the Richmond and Wilson Rivers.  This location was regarded as the largest sea port on the North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. It was initially established to service the valuable ‘cedar’ timber industry.  Uncontrolled logging of native rainforest and land clearing revealed rich agricultural soils and so the dairying and sugar cane industry developed.

The initial establishment of these industries in this harsh environment was foreign to early white settlers.  The high level of rainfall and humid conditions made the area inhospitable, as insect attack was a major health hazard causing serious infection.

Supplies of mild European antiseptics were scarce and had limited effect on serious infections and fungal diseases.  Native Aboriginals exposed to the same harsh conditions with little or no protection were observed crushing tea tree leaf and binding it over wounds and infections with paper bark (tea tree) strapping.  The results were staggering, infection was controlled and wounds healed rapidly. Botanists soon identified this unique medicinal tree and created the botanical species Melaleuca alternifolia.

Over a period of time world populations were introduced to this unique ‘natural’ antiseptic and its wondrous, diverse applications.  Still to this day, modern science has failed to provide a safe, effective medication for the treatment of topical infections and fungal diseases compared to our Australian Native Tea Tree Oil.
